Learn Spanish and Surf has partnered with ISLS – Spanish Institute to bring you a great teen Spanish & Surf camp. ISLS is a world leader in Spanish Immersion Programs. Over the past 18 years they have worked with thousands of students and parents to set up amazing summer educational programs. The Teen Spanish & Surf Camp is designed to combine learning the Spanish language with fun, adventurous and safe surfing experiences. The Teen Spanish & Surf is a great Spanish immersion camp for high school students looking to improve their Spanish ability, while at the same time either learning to surf or developing their existing surfing abilities. Students will have opportunities to use the Spanish skills they are learning and will have surfing lessons at various beaches, including Playa Dominical, Costa Rica which is one of the best surf breaks in Central America . In many cases the camp will have the beaches to themselves with only the students and surf instructors in the water. Spanish classes are in small groups for four hours a day, Monday through Friday. Each student is given an oral and written evaluation to place them in the correct level of Spanish class. All classroom materials, including Spanish workbooks, are included. Four afternoons a week are set aside for surfing . The camp starts out at Playa Dominical and then visits other beaches the remaining days. Students who have never surfed before will begin their lessons while those who already know how will break off with other instructors for more advanced lessons. Surf boards are provided during these times for all students. Those that have their own boards are welcome to bring them along. In Dominical students are housed together, along with their counselors at a local three star eco resort. It is within walking distance to the school and the beach. All lodging is shared with two or three students per suite . There is a swimming pool where students can relax and hang out when not in classes or surfing. Internet connection is also available at the reception area. On the weekends, students take part in a two day adventure tour. Each weekend you will visit a different area of Costa Rica. Each trip is unique so that students can experience the diversity of the country and use the Spanish language skills they have been learning. Students who sign up for multiple weeks will never do the same tour twice. The Teen Surf & Spanish camp includes the following: Four hours per day of Spanish instruction, all study materials, four half-day surf lessons per week, use of surfboards, lodging in a three star eco resort, weekend adventure tours, evening cultural activities, airport pick up and drop off, three meals per day, all in country transportation, health/travel insurance and bilingual guides. Teen Surf and Spanish Camp (Ages 14- 17) The weekly price of the camp is $1480. Students can take up to four weeks of this Spanish immersion camp. Students can add private Spanish lessons, in addition to the group lessons, at $20/hour. Students wanting more surfing lessons can sign up for additional hours of instruction at $35/hour. There is a 2 hour minimum for the additional lessons. |
